Learning from LEGO: David Robertson to Speak at Forum
How did an iconic toymaker engineer one of the most successful turnarounds in modern business history? As a featured speaker at Fiserv Forum 2015 in Orlando, David Robertson will use LEGO's tumultuous past as a backdrop to share how putting focus and direction around innovation is key to any company's success.
Robertson is a student, teacher, renowned innovation expert and author of "Brick by Brick: How LEGO Reinvented its Innovation System and Conquered the Toy Industry" – an inside look at LEGO's near death and spectacular rebirth. At Forum, he will share how advice from misguided innovation experts almost ruined the company, while innovation management – an entirely new system of processes, tools, roles and policies that governed creative thinking – saved it.
As a Professor of Practice at the Wharton School, Robertson teaches Innovation and Product Development in the undergraduate, graduate and executive education programs. Robertson spent eight years as the LEGO Professor of Innovation and Technology Management at the Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Switzerland.
In addition to Robertson, featured speakers at Forum will include digital publishing pioneer Arianna Huffington plus Jeff Yabuki, Fiserv president and CEO, and Mark Sievewright, president of Credit Union Solutions, Fiserv.
